Varietal: Pinot Noir
Region: California – Napa Valley – USA
Cost: $15
Medium-dark red in color with aromas of cherry and spice. Â Flavors of cherry, both ripe and tart, cranberry, red plum, black truffle, and cedar wood on the palate with just a hint of spice and earthiness on the finish. Â Pairs well with beef, pork, lamb, pizza.
Recommendations: So I’d like to think that by now that my love of Pinot Noir is well known, and they certainly know about it at my local wine store as this bottle was recommended to me on a recent trip there for one of their Friday tastings. Â This past week, while throwing some pork chops on the grill, I decided to open it up.
Medium-dark in color with a nice aroma of cherry, the medium-light body of the wine was a great compliment to the pork, and the flavors of ripe and tart cherry did a great job of cutting the seasoning we had put on the pork chops, a sweet and smoky rub that was quite enjoyable. Â A bit of spice and earth on the finish made this both a great wine to enjoy with the meal, but one that I’d wished for more of after the meal and the bottle was gone.
While there are any number of value Pinots out there now, this one definitely caught my eye and is one I plan to buy again in the near future. Â If you can’t find it at your local store, you can find it here.
