Winemaker’s Notes: This is an alluring white wine. Intense aromas of citrus fruits, almond, and peaches on the nose, followed by a palate which is refreshing and well balanced with a lingering finish. Pair with seasoned cheeses, aperitifs, or with your preferred recipes.
My Review: I really do enjoy an interesting label, and this certainly qualifies. But, while the label may draw eye, it’s what’s in the bottle that really matters.
In the glass the 2018 Pasqua Romeo & Juliet Passione Sentimento Bianco started out a light yellow that was almost clear. I don’t know if it was just the light I had or something else, but as the evening progressed, a more golden color emerged.
On the nose I picked up aromas of tart citrus, mostly lemon and lime, with just a bit of gooseberry in there as well. In the mouth the wine was tart and crisp, with flavors of lime and gooseberry and a soft finish.
My wife and I paired the wine with chicken marsala, and I have to say that we enjoyed the wine. It didn’t blow our minds, but it drank like a roughly $20 wine, which means at $16 it was a good value. It was light and crisp, with just enough character to make you pay attention, but not so pretentious so that I felt like I was wasting the wine on a Thursday night on the couch.
Editor’s Note: I received this wine as a free sample for review.
