Winemaker’s Notes: Intense ruby red color. Nice aromas of red and black fruits such as cassis, black cherries, and spices like black pepper and sweet pepper. Medium-bodied, well-balanced wine with soft tannins and a long finish.
My Review: Alright, let’s say we just jump right into this one – no storytelling, no preface. You know the drill.
In the glass the wine was a nice ruby red color. On the nose I picked up aromas of cassis and black cherry, which carried through to the palate, where they were joined by soft tannins and a slight tart finish on the end. In the mouth the wine was bright and clean, which can probably be attributed to it spending time in stainless steel tanks.
I enjoyed the wine by itself, but I think pairing it with something saucy would be best; pasta with meatballs or grilled red meats.
For the price ($11) I like the wine – it’s approachable and easy to drink, but for the price point it avoids being a fruit bomb thanks to the clean, bright flavors. Definitely a good value pick up and worthy of being your Tuesday night bottle.
