Varietal:Â Red Table Wine (Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot)
Region:Â Â Virginia – USA
Cost:Â Â $25
Deep red coloring and a big nose are followed by ripe, jammy fruit flavors with a finish of aggressive tannins. Â
Recommendation:Â Â I’ve been staring at this bottle of wine in my cellar for a while, and I finally opened it up. Â I’m really wondering what took me so long. Â Â The deep red color and big nose of the wine will entice anybody that likes a bold wine, and the aggressive tannins of the finish almost dare you to drink some more. Â I’m not usually a fan of more fruit forward wines, and this certainly isn’t one, but the flavors are certainly of ripe, jammy fruit that is both a nice compliment to the finish.
I paired this wine with a pasta dish with a roasted red pepper cream sauce, and while it went well with the smokiness of that flavor, I would recommend pairing it with something juicier like a medium steak or perfectly cooked lamb. Â If you like bolder wines this one will be great for enjoying by itself, but if you prefer smoother wines, this one will probably only suit you for pairing with food. Â Either way, I enjoyed this wine and and for the price it’s a great wine. Â Definitely worth checking out.
It’s very good! I had it Bourbon Steak in Georgetown!
