Winemaker’s Notes: Â A bright pink color and a nose packed with fresh red fruit notes – strawberry – for this wine, whose palate confirms the aromas revealed by the creamy nose. Very fruit forward, this extreme value wine can be enjoyed with your everyday meals or by itself.
My Review: Â Summer means you have lots of rose’ reviews to look forward to. During a recent trip to one of my local wine shops for a wine to take to dinner at a friend’s house, my wife and I noticed that they had rose’ on sale. Not ones to pass up a good deal, we grabbed this bottle to enjoy later. Later happened to be this past weekend.
I liked the color on this wine, a nice pale pink somewhere between a light salmon pink and a darker, nearly red pink. On the nose I picked up ripe strawberries and a hint of herbs. In the mouth the wine showed ripe berries, more of the dried herbs, and a hint of pepper on the finish that I found nice and refreshing.
My wife and I actually didn’t pair this wine with anything – it was a warm Sunday and were just happy to have a nice rose’ to sip on. That being said, I think it would pair well with a variety of soft cheeses, fish, and probably even a burger off the grill – I’m a big fan of burgers and rose’, so don’t be surprised by that one.
For the price this wine is a great value as I’ve paid more for rose’ that I didn’t find more impressive, so if you come across a bottle of this, it’s definitely worth a pick-up, especially as the temps continue to rise and those of us so inclined drink more and more rose’
